Poland has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in entire Europe. Except for the extreme situations (imminent death of fetus or mother, rape and few similar circumstances) it is prohibited. Recently, the euro sceptic parliamentary majority tried to impose a total ban on abortion and even prison penalties for women and doctors , who would do one. After massive protests on the streets of many cities about a month ago – the plan for the new legislation was aborted itself. However – the Government is already suggesting that will re-introduce it again in slightly less draconian way. Last weekend saw another wave of protests against such plans. Poles in Poland and their friends in many other countries warned the Parliament against such moves. Here is a quick snapshot of the protests.
My personal choice of the best snapshot: in the Royal City of Kraków in Poland. Although the symbol was a Black Umbrella – I think the Rainbow Umbrella symbolizes beautiful and courageous Polish women the best!
